Dear Target, Please stop. I need a new purse....

Now that the Supreme Court has decided to allow unlimited corporate donations towards elections, corporations have the power to basically buy elections. It isn't fair, and it is sad that this is what it has come down to, but this is the reality: We HAVE to vote and speak with our money. This is the NEW order of things. Here is an important email from MoveOn.org about Target. (Which really sucks, because to be honest, I need a new purse...badly. The straps on my old purse are literally falling apart. Went to Nordies Anni Sale: No dice! Macy's workers are on strike, so I thought to myself: Target! But alas, they are trying to buy elections and hate on the LGBTQ community.) In order to be a good politically active member of society, it is now becoming apparent that you have to be a conscious consumer, because these two things are sleepin' in the same bed.

MoveOn.Org summarized it pretty well, so here it is:

Get this: Target, the retail giant, just became one of the very first companies to take advantage of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision allowing unlimited corporate cash in elections.1

Target has spent over $150,000 in the Minnesota Governor's race backing state Rep. Tom Emmer, a far-right Republican who supports Arizona's draconian immigration law, wants to abolish the minimum wage and even gave money to a fringe group that condoned the execution of gay people. 2
(To interject here.....THIS is really disturbing to me. Here is the video:

Target must think customers won't care. They're wrong: We do care, and we need to let them know that we want Target—and all corporations—out of our elections.

Will you send a message to Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel telling him that you're not going to shop at Target unless they stop trying to buy elections? Click HERE to add your name to the petition.
