The facebook bra thing drove me crazy. Really. I don't understand what it had to do with Breast Cancer awareness at all. I guarantee that half of the people who posted their bra color did only that. Didn't check for lumps. Didn't talk to a friend about it. Didn't think to themselves "Oh, that reminds me, I should go to the doctor!"
If we really cared about breast cancer awareness... isn't there a better more sufficient way of going about things? Really? Bra color????Clearly this was just an excuse for women to disclose their bra color in a very public forum. So why did so many women choose to disclose? I have two thoughts:
1. They just wanted to talk about their underwear. Cool. Go for it.
2. They were doing it to allure men. Everyone figured out what the color statuses were, the men included. It wasn't a big secret. Telling someone what color your bra is produces images in their head.
If the first is true, more power to you. But overwhelming evidence says that number two is most likely the truth. My overwhelming evidence? EVERY WOMAN on facebook posted an unusual and alluring bra color. NO ONE has a white bra on???? NO ONE? No one.
Purple and neon green zebra print!
Black with lace
Pink!
Baby Blue
Ivory (Still not white!)
This disturbs me. If you want to allure men and let them know what your bra looks like.... lets not do it in the name of Breast Cancer Awareness. Breast Cancer awareness deserves better than that. And the women of America shouldn't have to talk about their bras and kid themselves into thinking that these postings and statuses were for them. They weren't. They were for men. In fact, I would be absolutely astonished if it was actually a woman's idea to start this chain letter bra color business.
